Why was my vehicle impounded?
Vehicles are typically impounded (towed) for traffic, parking, or criminal offenses. Specific questions should be directed to the NCH Police Department at 513-521-7171. You will need to provide the license plate number, vehicle identification number (VIN), or registered owner’s name.
How do I get my vehicle out of Impound?
STEP 1: Bring the following items to the NCH Police Station, during Impound Lot hours: Monday through Friday, 8:00am - 4:00pm. The NCH Police Station is located inside the NCH Public Safety Building at 1646 W Galbraith Road, Cincinnati, OH 45239.
- Proof of ownership; you must provide one of the following:
-- Vehicle Registration, OR
-- Vehicle Title, OR
-- Memorandum Title - Photo ID
-- A valid driver's license is required to drive the vehicle from the lot. - Cash or credit card to pay fees (See below.)
- If the vehicle was an ALS impound, the vehicle release order from the courts
- If the vehicle was a CMC 759 impound, proof of payment of the civil bond
STEP 2: A police officer will then escort you to the Impound Lot, which is located at 1500 W Galbraith Road to retrieve your vehicle. Please note the following:
- Vehicles not bearing valid registered license plates and stickers must be towed from the Impound Lot. Please plan accordingly.
How much is it going to cost to get my vehicle out of impound?
All impound fees must be paid during business hours at the NCH Public Safety Building, located at 1646 W Galbraith Road.
Basic charges for impoundment :
- Towing - $240
- Storage - $25 per day from impoundment
- Administrative fee - $50
-- Fee added for the processing of the vehicle by clerical staff - Extended storage fee - $75 plus tax
-- Added if the vehicle is not retrieved within five (5) days of impoundment
Special fees (if applicable):
- Heavy Duty Wrecker Tow Fee
- Additional Tow Time Fee
- No Key Fee
- Inspection Fee
- Administrative License Suspension Fee (ALS)
What forms of payment do you accept?
Payment must be presented in person at the NCH Public Safety Building, located at 1646 W Galbraith Road. We will accept the following methods of payment:
- Cash (Recommended)
- Credit Cards (VISA, MasterCard, Discover, American Express)
-- NOTE: Credit Card Holder must be present with valid ID, 4% processing fee - NO CHECKS OR MONEY ORDERS will be accepted.
Can I pay with a credit card online or over the phone?
No. Payments for fees are only accepted in person at the NCH Public Safety Building, located at 1646 W Galbraith Road. Additionally, only the person whose name appears on the credit card may use the card. They must be present, with a photo ID.
Can someone other than the registered owner retrieve my vehicle from the Impound Lot?
Yes, with proper documentation:
- Individuals must have a signed, notarized statement from the registered owner giving authorization for release of the vehicle to the named party.
- Specific questions should be directed to the NCH Police Department personnel at 513-521-7171.
Can I make a partial payment, or make arrangements for a payment plan for my fees?
No. Payment is due and payable in full to secure the release of a vehicle.
How can I dispute the tow and request a refund of my fees?
Refund and dispute for tows not available. Citation disputes will be handled through the court that the citation was issued through. Questions regarding reason for tow or other disputes may be emailed directly to Lt. Englebert for further review: Eenglebert@northcollegehill.org
How long do you keep a vehicle before it is auctioned or salvaged?
Vehicles which are not claimed by the owner or lienholder within ten (10) days of sending notice may be disposed of by auction or by other means described in City of North College Hill Ordinance 303.083(d).
If I am unable to pay my fees, can I remove my personal property from the vehicle before it is sold or salvaged?
Emergency items may be retrieved from vehicles by the vehicle owner by appointment ONLY. Contact the NCH Police Department at 513-521-7171 to make an appointment available Tuesday’s and Thursday’s, 8:00am - 3:00pm.
NO electronics or vehicle parts can be removed. License plates registered to the vehicle can be removed by the owner if the title is surrendered to the NCH Police Department.
Can someone else retrieve my personal property if I am unable to do so?
Yes, the vehicle owner may designate someone else to retrieve items. The designee must possess a notarized letter from the owner giving them permission to retrieve property from their vehicle.
