From the Office of the Mayor:
Dear North College Hill Community,
It is with deep sadness and a heavy heart that I inform you of the death of our friend and colleague, Doug Eikens, who passed away unexpectedly on August 15, 2024.
The entire City of North College Hill team wishes to express our deepest condolences to Doug’s family and friends at this difficult time.
A life-long resident of NCH, Doug served the city for several years, in multiple positions. Most recently, he was our city’s Code Enforcement Officer, CPR/AED trainer, and Fire Inspector.
Doug was a well-liked member of the NCH family, who warmly greeted his co-workers every day with words of kindness, asking “How are you doing today?” – and he really wanted to know!
He will truly be missed by everyone who had the privilege of working with him.
With Deepest Sympathy,
Mayor Tracie Nichols

Rumpke crews may be out earlier than normal in your neighborhoods in an attempt to service as many customers as possible before the intense heat sets in this week.
Ensuring the safety of our team members is a top priority. The high temperatures anticipated for the remainder of the week make our work more difficult. Having our drivers start earlier will help protect them from heat related illnesses, while still being able to provide the critical, essential service of waste and recycling collection.
Rumpke asks that all customers place their material curbside the night before their scheduled service day, to help ensure timely collection.
We appreciate everyone’s assistance with placing material is out the night before. We understand that early collection isn’t always ideal, but necessary to protect our team members from extreme weather and heavy traffic.
If anyone has any concerns or issue with Rumpke possibly starting a little earlier than our contracted start times, please contact:

As one of several beautification projects which will be taking place throughout NCH this summer, the City has engaged Monté Jones, a NCH resident and professional artist, to paint three decorative murals along Alley B at the intersections of 2nd Alley, 3rd Alley and 4th Alley. These large street murals will beautify the space between the Galbraith Rd commercial district and the residential neighborhood along Goodman Ave, which is frequently traveled by walkers and bicyclists. This project begins the week of June 12, and is expected to be completed by June 30. Expect intermittent road closures while the artist is at work.
Positions are available in Public Works, Finance & HR, and Public Safety.
This event has been POSTPONED until April 29 due to inclement weather in the forecast.
Annual spring fire hydrant maintenance is under way. Crews will be out cleaning, greasing and flowing all of the hydrants in the city. In rare occasions flowing the hydrants may cause discoloration of water in nearby buildings. If your water is discolored run cold water, ideally the shower or bathtub until clear (5 minutes or less).
The City of North College Hill Public Works Department is hiring!
